October 21, 2026. EA has previewed The Sims 4’s October 27 update, including new controls that let players independently enable or disable weight and muscle changes across a save or for individual Sims. The settings will not apply to pets.
The update’s broader theme is food, dining and drinks. EA’s October 20 Laundry List describes more than 150 fixes, tuning changes and features across the base game and packs.
The practical changes
Sims should prefer leftovers when hungry, while the fridge’s Open interaction moves closer to the front of its menu. Restaurant work targets staffing, seating and interrupted dining, although EA acknowledges that some dining-flow problems may remain.
The preview also lists fixes for endless loading during lot placement, certain rental-save white screens and freezing Sims. Pack-specific changes require the relevant content.
Prepare before patch day
This is an upcoming update, not a patch already available to install. Mod users should back up saves and check compatibility before restoring custom content. Keep a note of the mods you use so troubleshooting does not depend on memory.
For long-running households, consider making a separate pre-update save. That gives you a clear point of comparison if an interaction behaves differently afterward.
