EA is resetting allocated Archetype Points in EA Sports FC 27, but it is not wiping player progress.
In developer notes published October 19, 2026, the studio said an update will clear the Attribute Points players have assigned to their Archetypes. The change is due to be deployed by Thursday, October 22 at 2:00 a.m. Pacific time.
What stays and what resets
- Your Archetype level stays the same.
- Your total amount of AP for each Archetype stays the same.
- Your assigned AP resets, so you will need to distribute those points again.
In other words, this is a rebuild rather than a progression wipe. Players should expect to revisit each affected Pro and recreate their preferred attribute setup after the update lands.
Why EA is changing the system
EA previously said it was investigating incorrect AP costs for some upgrades in The Grounds. After reviewing a couple of weeks of live gameplay, the studio says it found that certain Attributes had been classified incorrectly, which affected their costs. The new balance pass is intended to make each Archetype feel more distinct.
The cost direction changes across goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and attackers. Some Attributes become more expensive while others become cheaper, depending on the Archetype. EA has not published replacement numerical costs in the announcement, so players will need to inspect the updated build screen before committing their points.
EA is also removing Attacking Positioning as a requirement for Archetype Specializations. That should open more flexibility when rebuilding, even though the altered costs may make some familiar setups impossible to copy exactly.
Compensation for rebuilding
Players who previously created a Pro and therefore need to reallocate AP will receive 5,000 Club Coins and one 1.75x AXP Multiplier for six matches. The compensation is tied to having an existing Pro that requires rebuilding; it is not described as a universal reward for every account.
What players should do
If you care about reproducing a current build, take screenshots of your Attributes before the update. They will not guarantee an exact match after the costs change, but they provide a useful reference. Then check the new prices and Specialization requirements before spending all of your AP.
The rollout deadline is “by” October 22 at 2:00 a.m. Pacific, not a guarantee that every player will see the update at exactly the same moment. The Grounds, including Clubs, is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2—not last-generation consoles.
The key takeaway: your investment in levels survives. Your build does not.
