Apple’s $429 Apple TV 4K Arrives November 13. Check the Siri Fine Print First

Apple’s next Apple TV 4K lands in Canada on November 13, and the headline number is hard to miss: $429 CAD. That is a serious price for something many people still think of as a little box that runs Netflix. Apple is making a different pitch this time. It wants the television to be a voice-controlled entertainment system, a smart-home hub and, increasingly, another place for Apple Intelligence to show up.

The fourth-generation Apple TV 4K runs on the A19 chip. Apple claims up to 50 per cent faster CPU performance and twice the GPU performance of the previous generation, along with a dedicated AV1 decoder for more efficient video streaming. Those are manufacturer comparisons, not independent benchmarks, but they do suggest this refresh is about more than a new remote and a software update.

Siri is the big attraction — with an important catch

The most interesting change is Siri AI. Apple says you can ask more conversational questions about what to watch, follow up without starting from scratch and get answers overlaid on the screen. The box also has three far-field microphones, so you can speak to it without picking up the remote.

Before spending $429 for that experience, though, read the small print. Apple describes Siri AI as a beta and says it requires an Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone or iPad with current software, along with the right home and language settings. Siri AI is also being offered on Apple TV 4K models from the second generation onward. In other words, not every part of the new Siri experience is exclusive to the new hardware, and not every household will have the same experience on day one.

The living-room extras

Apple is also expanding what the box can do beyond streaming. The new model supports a four-speaker surround setup using compatible HomePods, with matching speaker pairs at the front and rear. As a smart-home hub, it can surface compatible doorbell notifications and work with HomeKit Secure Video. The updated Siri Remote adds Find My features, including Precision Finding and an audible alert — a genuinely practical improvement for a remote that likes to disappear between couch cushions.

None of this means everyone needs to replace an existing Apple TV. If your current box already plays everything you watch, the question is whether hands-free controls, the HomePod setup and the smart-home features solve a problem you actually have. And if Siri AI is your main reason to upgrade, check your phone or tablet compatibility first.

Apple says the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K will be available in Canada on Friday, November 13, 2026, for $429 CAD. The company’s Canadian announcement has the full feature list and compatibility notes. At this price, those footnotes deserve as much attention as the keynote promises.
