There are plenty of reasons to run Vault of Glass again. The opening plates, the Oracles, that moment when a fireteam finally gets its rhythm around Atheon — none of that needs a new season to feel good. But Bungie also gave returning raiders a wonderfully old-school reason to head back in: Chatterwhite.
In its June 4 This Week in Destiny, Bungie detailed how the Monument of Triumph reward vendors work. Chatterwhite, the all-white shader associated with the original Destiny’s Vault of Glass, is among the returning cosmetics. Unlike a simple vendor pickup, Bungie specified a prerequisite: complete a weekly Deepsight quest offered by Hawthorne in the Tower Bazaar for Vault of Glass. Then use the Monument’s Legendary Marks reward system to claim the shader.
That distinction matters if you’re logging in expecting to grab it straight from a kiosk. Legendary Marks come from Monument of Triumphs, and some rewards require a particular challenge before the purchase unlocks. Chatterwhite is one of those exceptions. Check Hawthorne’s quest offering and the relevant Monument vendor requirements in-game before assembling your fireteam; availability and UI details can change with maintenance.
It’s also a neat bridge between two eras of Destiny. The original Vault of Glass helped teach a generation of Guardians that a raid was more than a long strike with bigger enemies. Callouts, timing, failed attempts and the eventual clear were the reward as much as the loot. Bringing a recognizable D1 cosmetic into Destiny 2’s final major update doesn’t recreate 2014, but it gives those memories a tangible place in today’s game.
The takeaway: if your group has been looking for an excuse to revisit Vault of Glass, Chatterwhite is a specific goal with an official unlock path — not a rumoured future unvaulting promise. Bring the people you actually like raiding with. The shader is a bonus.
