October 31, 2026. It’s worth taking a few minutes to check whether your Google Account still reflects the devices and services you actually use.
Google’s October 30 reminder points to three areas: signed-in devices, third-party app access and recovery details. Open Security Checkup through your account or that official address, not an unsolicited message claiming you must act immediately.
1. Identify the devices
Look through the signed-in devices and take time to identify anything unfamiliar. Do not assume a label you do not recognize is automatically an intruder. If you suspect unauthorized activity, follow Google’s account-security help rather than dismissing it.
2. Review app connections
Check which connected services you still need. Before removing one, understand the work it performs and the effect on sign-in or integrations you rely on. A small, informed clean-up is more useful than indiscriminately breaking every connection.
3. Confirm recovery details
Verify that recovery contact information is current and accessible. Google’s security guidance also covers passkeys, two-step verification and software updates if you want to extend the review.
A checkup is a maintenance aid, not a guarantee that an account can never be compromised. For an employer-managed account, follow your organization’s guidance and ask IT before changing settings that affect shared work.
