Family Gaming Brief | October 15, 2026
Bluey’s Happy Snaps launches today with a simple idea that fits its audience: give children a camera, a colourful place to explore and reasons to keep playing after the screen turns off.
The game is available globally on PC and consoles, with day-one access through Xbox Game Pass and support for Xbox Play Anywhere. Developed by Gameloft Brisbane with Ludo Studio and BBC Studios, it follows Bluey and Bingo as they use their dad’s old camera to fill a scrapbook with photos and memories.
A camera changes the goal
Photo-driven play encourages observation instead of constant competition. The player looks for characters, locations and small moments worth framing. That can make a familiar world feel interactive without requiring complicated controls or score chasing.
The scrapbook gives those discoveries a home. It turns individual snapshots into a record of play, which is a natural fit for younger players who enjoy collecting, decorating and retelling what happened.
Brisbane is part of the play
Familiar locations including New Farm Park, South Bank and Mount Coot-tha appear in the adventure. That local grounding matters: the world is not just a generic backdrop wearing a recognizable licence. Gameloft Brisbane’s involvement helps connect the game to the setting that shaped the series.
Co-op is built for side-by-side play
Up to two players can explore together. For families, that lowers the barrier between watching and participating. A parent, sibling or friend can join the search, help frame a shot and talk about what to try next.
The best family co-op games give both players meaningful ways to contribute without turning every mistake into a failure state. A photography adventure has room for that gentler rhythm.
The screen is not the finish line
The package also includes physical activity cards designed to inspire offline play. The official announcement says research led by Queensland University of Technology informed that part of the experience, with an emphasis on autonomy, creativity and connection. That is the developer’s description rather than an independent review, but the design goal is welcome.
Games for young children work best when they become prompts for imagination rather than closed loops. A digital photo hunt that leads to drawing, storytelling or a real-world family activity gives the purchase more value than another passive session.
What families should know
Bluey’s Happy Snaps is available on PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The announced standard-edition price is US$39.99, although regional pricing may vary.
The appeal is not technical spectacle. It is the chance to look closely, make something together and carry the play into the room around the television.
